ABOUT
Dr Kevin O’Daly is a medically qualified specialist and a member of the Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), The Royal College of Psychiatrists UK, and the RANZCP faculty of History, Philosophy & Ethics
Dr O’Daly qualified with a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from UWA in 1996, before completing his specialisation in Psychiatry.
Dr O’Daly has experience in a broad range of psychiatry, extending across specialist areas of child and adolescent, older adult, emergency, community and rural psychiatry. He worked for 20 years in the WA public service including substantial time as head of emergency psychiatry at Fremantle Hospital and as clinical director of Alma Street Psychiatric Unit.
Fremantle Psychiatry has operated since 2012 and has developed into a multi-disciplinary mental health service. Dr O’Daly continues to treat acute, chronic and complex presentations including treatment-resistant depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, alcohol and other drug dependence and addictions, trauma and PTSD, gender and sexuality related issues, psychosis and schizophrenia and personality=related problems.
This diversity affords Dr O’Daly the experience and knowledge to provide individual guidance from a biological, diagnostic and psychological perspective. Treatment involves the application of psychotherapy as a basis for rationalising any pharmacological component. Dr O’Daly has completed training in a range of therapies, however his approach is underpinned primarily by existential and psychodynamic theories. He is committed to ongoing study and research in the field of psychiatry, which keeps him aligned with current and best-practice treatment protocols.
